Skydive

17 September 2024 – 31 March 2025
A woman wearing a Royal Free Charity t-shirt, skydiving high above with a professional instructor on her back.
Imagine standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet – the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below.

Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway and letting go – falling forward into the clouds, diving down through the air as you start freefalling at over 120mph! Then imagine the peace and quiet as the canopy opens, the steering toggles come down either side of you and you begin a tranquil parachute descent from a mile up in the air, steering yourself back down to the centre of the drop zone below.

Chloe Paine (pictured) on the completion of her 15,000-foot skydive, in memory of her best friend Arabella who underwent a liver transplant at the Royal Free Hospital.

Chloe said: On the day of the jump, it was such a wonderful feeling to have Arabella’s family there with me. It really did feel like she was there too! The jump was so close to the date we lost Arabella and to be able to celebrate and remember her was a dream come true.”

I would highly recommend anyone to take on the challenge. It’s such an amazing and rewarding experience. When you finally reach the ground, it wouldn’t surprise me that you would want to do it all over again…. I know I did!

So, what are you waiting for? If you want to try something new, why not register your place below? And remember, don’t look down… unless you really want to!
