Grant funding

We invest millions in grant funding each year to support our hospitals to go further, faster, for all.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, our grants programme ensures Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust staff and researchers can do more than the NHS could do alone. 

Grants rounds 2025/26

Patient and public involvement and engagement grants (PPIE)

The patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) grant is now open until March 2026. 

This scheme will support researchers to involve patients and the public in shaping their projects. Funding will be available to undertake a variety of PPIE-related activities. This could include holding focus groups to develop ideas, running an engagement event, or undertaking surveys and interviews with people with lived experience. 

Applicants can apply for up to £500 and for up to six months.

Diabetes Research grants (closed)

Our diabetes research grant round closed on 2 October 2025, we will be informing applicants of outcomes March 2026.

Application development support grants (Closed)

Our development support grant round closed on 4 December 2025, we will be informing applicants of outcomes late March 2026.

Patient experience grants (closed)

Our patient experience grant round closed on 7 August 2025, we will be informing applicants of outcomes late October 2025.
