Pond Street gardens volunteer remembered

We were saddened to hear of the recent death of Malcolm Grove – Belsize Park resident, volunteer gardener and co-founder of a local free school.

Malcolm and his wife Linda became local residents when they moved to Belsize Lane on Malcolm’s retirement 30 years ago. Malcolm became heavily involved in community activity, including setting up the volunteer gardening project at the Royal Free Hospital. For many years he contributed to the flourishing gardens on Pond Street.

Royal Free Hospital patients and staff will appreciate the thoughtfulness of Malcolm’s widow, Linda, in providing them with a place to sit. And it is fitting that she intends the new benches to be placed in front of the Pears Building looking onto Hampstead Green – a very apt tribute to green-fingered Malcolm.
