Pears Building scoops top industry award

The Pears Building project has scooped a global construction industry accolade less than a month after building work finished on the site, with judges hailing it as “an outstanding world class building”.

Project services company Buro Four won the Full Alliance Award for their management of the Pears Building project. The award is given by the International Construction Project Management Association (ICPMA) to recognise excellence around the world.

Judges described the extent of collaboration during the project as “remarkable” and “demonstrably focused on teamwork”.

Jon Spiers, chief executive of the Royal Free Charity, said:
“Congratulations to our partners Buro Four on this well-deserved award for helping to deliver one of the largest centres in the world dedicated to the study of the human immune system. It was a complex and ambitious plan that saw fantastic collaboration between all those involved.”

Earlier this month, organisers of the prestigious Construction News Awards announced construction firm Willmott Dixon as finalists in the Project of the Year award category for their construction of the Pears Building.

Over the coming months, the building will become home to UCL’s Institute of Immunity and Transplantation. The building will also house the headquarters of the Royal Free Charity, a community café and patient accommodation.
