Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II: 1926 – 2022

The thoughts of staff and volunteers of the Royal Free Charity are with HM The King and the rest of the royal family at this profoundly sad time. HM The Queen was beloved by many throughout her long reign and will be greatly missed.

The Royal Free Hospital was opened on its current site by the Queen in 1978 and the charity and the Royal Free Hospital have enjoyed long links with members of her family since Queen Victoria decided to confer royal status on the Royal Free Hospital in the 19th century because of its work with cholera victims.

The Pears Building, which houses the charity and UCL’s Institute of Immunity and Transplantation, will be setting up a condolence book for our volunteers, our staff and the local community.
