Staff can’t get over new wall at Barnet Hospital

Staff at Barnet Hospital (BH) couldn’t stop smiling after the unveiling of two new walls of artwork and messages of support supplied by the local community.

More than 750 pieces of art now adorn the walls of the reception area of the therapies unit and the main entrance corridor of the hospital – a stirring sight that can be seen over two floors and needed a special “scissor” lift to get the pictures all the way up to the top.

The project was inspired by the successful transformation of a plain and featureless corridor in the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Royal Free Hospital. After hearing of the positive effect it was having on staff, the charity was asked to create a similar morale-boosting mural to inspire health workers at BH.

The team there were quick to share pictures of themselves with the new wall all over social media with one member of staff saying they were “lucky to be part of an organisation where staff experience matters so much”.
