Research partnership finding new answers for patients
Our partnership with the trust has led to a unique partnership between its three hospitals, the globally important university UCL and the charity.
This will be embodied in the Pears Building, a new home for the UCL Institute of Immunity and Transplantation (IIT) which will open in 2021.
It will help the IIT in its mission to become a world class research centre, where clinicians and researchers will work side by side, speeding up the conversion of research insights from the laboratory bench to novel and effective treatments at the patient’s bedside.

The IIT and the Pears Building
The IIT will bring together scientists, clinicians, nurses and patients to gain novel insights into the underlying causes of disease. It will combine the clinical excellence of the Royal Free London’s hospitals and the research excellence of scientists at UCL in the most modern facilities in the new Pears Building.
