Research partnership finding new answers for patients

Our partnership with the trust has led to a unique partnership between its three hospitals, the globally important university UCL and the charity.

This will be embodied in the Pears Building, a new home for the UCL Institute of Immunity and Transplantation (IIT) which will open in 2021.

It will help the IIT in its mission to become a world class research centre, where clinicians and researchers will work side by side, speeding up the conversion of research insights from the laboratory bench to novel and effective treatments at the patient’s bedside.

The removal of a tower crane from the Pears Building construction site will take place across the next two weekends, ie 20 and 27 June.

Work will start at 7.30am and finish by 1pm, in line with permitted working hours for this project. The early start will allow road closure signage to be put in place to minimise disruption. No work on the crane will take place until 8am.

The closure of Rosslyn Hill adjacent to the Hampstead Green is necessary to remove the crane because of the size of required equipment. There will be some associated noise but we don’t expect this to be excessive. Willmott Dixon managers will be on site during the operation and happy to answer any questions you may have. You can also email me at this address.

The removal of the crane, along with the recent removal of the hoarding, mark the beginning of a milestone stage in the project. Willmotts and the charity are very grateful for the forbearance of local people during the work to date.
