Meet Sophie Holdstock

Sophie Holdstock this week joined the RFC yesterday as the new grants administration assistant. Here she answers some questions as she embarks on her new role.

What will your role with us involve?

I think a lot of data entry and a lot of email communication. I’m looking forward to it though, I have a background in customer service and I’m hoping to use my Excel skills and develop them even further.

Where were you before you joined us?

Sadler’s Wells Ticket Office.

What drew you to the Royal Free Charity?

I was interested in learning more about the grant application and funding process and developing my skills in other areas besides customer service. I was particularly interested in joining RFC after the interview, where it was apparent that I’d be joining a friendly and supportive team.

What do you expect to like best about your working day?

I imagine my first cup of tea keeping me company as I go through the grants inbox!

What do you most pride yourself on?

Being kind.

Where is your favourite place and what do you love about it?

Running along the River Thames near Fulham. When I first moved to London I lived with a friend out that way, and I used to go running a lot along the river. I was in a new city, unsure of what was to come, but those runs brought me some comfort each day, and some beautiful views.

What would you be doing if you hadn’t followed this career path?

Well, if I could have made it happen: an actor.

Anything you’d like to add?

Really glad to be joining you all, and I hope to meet some of you in the flesh one day.
