HM Queen Elizabeth II opens the Royal Free Hospital, 1978

As thousands gather to pay respects to HM The Queen we are reflecting on our royal connections. In the 19th century Queen Victoria conferred royal status on the Royal Free Hospital, and in 1978 HM Queen Elizabeth II officially opened the current building on Pond Street.
