Live virtual event – HIV then and now

Please join us for our next virtual event from RFC Presents, ‘HIV then and now’, a talk by Professor Margaret Johnson who was a consultant on the acclaimed Channel 4 series It’s A Sin.

Millions of people tuned into It’s a Sin, about how the AIDS crisis affected the lives of a group of friends in 1980s Britain.

Professor Johnson is a consultant physician in HIV medicine at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and professor of medicine at UCL.

In 1989, she was the first dedicated HIV consultant to be appointed in the UK and has built a service which provides holistic care, delivered by a multidisciplinary team, to more than 3,000 regular patients.

She has been the principal investigator of many major studies for antiretroviral drugs and also focuses on research into cures for HIV. She has a particular research interest in women with HIV.

In this talk, she will discuss the changes in HIV treatment over the past 30 years, sharing stories and examples of research from her career.
