The Royal Free Charity is the charitable organisation supporting staff and patients at Barnet, Chase Farm and the Royal Free hospitals.

All gifts to support NHS staff and patients within the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust are handled by the charity.

Thank you so much for your interest in supporting our hospitals with the donation of gifts to the staff – we really appreciate you thinking of us at this time.

Financial donations

Above all, what we need right now are financial donations to support our critical work across the hospitals. This includes the health and wellbeing projects we run for staff, equipment for improved patient care and our vital charity services like our therapies team and our volunteers. You can donate quickly and easily here or by emailing [email protected].

Gifts and donations

Please do not deliver gifts to any of the hospital sites without first contacting us.

To enable the safe management of deliveries of donated goods and meals, restrictions have been put in place on the items and quantities the hospitals are able to receive. Please email us first, before making arrangements for dropping off gifts, so we can assess your offer against the established criteria. If the trust is able to accept your donation, we will give you details of how and where to deliver them.

Criteria for gifts

The quantities donated need to be on a commercial level, such as a minimum of 20 wholesale boxes, or by industrial crate. If you are looking to make a donation of smaller quantities of goods, treats or meals perhaps you would consider donating the equivalent value instead? It will help us to provide support for staff wellbeing and resilience.

Any food or drink must be in individual sealed portions, ideally factory-wrapped, within its sell-by date and where relevant include a list of ingredients on each wrapper.

Items which are popular with staff include:

  • canned and bottled drinks
  • snacks
  • biscuits
  • bagged fruit
  • hand cream
  • lip balm
Chilled and packaged meals

We can only accept prepared food and meals which have produced in a facility that has recognised food safety management procedures, such as a HACCP plan, an environmental health certificate and inspections. There are time limits for prepared food to be out of temperature which we will advise of, if your offer is accepted.
