The pandemic left hospitals all over the UK on the brink. The pressure on our healthcare system has been tough on patients with cancer, and their families.
So, this winter we want to introduce new and innovative healthcare solutions into our local hospitals. We want people with cancer to have access to faster, less invasive treatments and to have a better experience when in hospital.
We can only do this with your help.
About the winter appeal
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is London’s biggest cancer treatment provider, and the UK’s third biggest. And the generosity of our local communities means that medical teams at Barnet, Chase Farm and Royal Free hospitals are able to go further and faster than they could with NHS funding alone.
With your help this winter, we will be able to reach into the future and bring tomorrow’s solutions to our hospitals now, making diagnostics and treatment less invasive AND speedier to improve patients’ experience and outcomes.
Being a winter appeal champion
Thank you for considering being a champion for our Bring the Future Forward appeal. We are hugely grateful for your support and want to provide information to help you feel confident and excited about the appeal and your role.
From 13-18 November we will be asking you to share our appeal with your friends, family and colleagues to ask for their support. You will have a personalised web link to your own fundraising page on the Charity Extra platform – all you need to do is send it out via email, social media and Whatsapp. Thanks to the generosity of our matched funders, all donations made will be doubled so it’s an amazing way to make an impact.
We know that both time and money are particularly precious at the moment. There’s no minimum target for donations – whatever you are able to raise through your page will be hugely appreciated and will really help us to bring the future forward for people with cancer.
Thank you so much for your support – your commitment to the Royal Free Charity is truly appreciated.
The appeal will launch on fundraising platform Charity Extra at 10am on Sunday 13 November and will run until 12pm on Friday 18 November
We’re hoping to raise over £200,000 to make a real difference to people with cancer this winter.
Through the Bring the Future Forward appeal we hope to:
- introduce London’s first same-day lung cancer diagnostic service to speed up diagnoses and to ensure patients receiving oncology care are fitter and stronger when their treatment starts
- enhance digital mammography services to detect breast cancer earlier in higher risk patients and to treat patients who are unable to access conventional MRI scans
- use stunning virtual reality landscapes to transform the experience of patients receiving chemotherapy.
It’s simple! We’ll give you a personalised fundraising page on Charity Extra, complete with information about the appeal. All you need to do is share the link to your page with your network between 13 and 18 November.
Charity Extra is a fundraising platform. You may be familiar with others like JustGiving. It allows you to quickly and easily raise vital funds to support the Royal Free Charity.
You will be sent your personal link on Saturday 12 November, ready for you to share far and wide from 13 – 18 November.
Please do tell people you know about the Bring the Future Forward appeal, and about your role as a champion. They may want to be champions themselves in which case please do put them in touch with us!
Other than that, there is nothing you need to do now. We will be in touch a couple of weeks before the appeal starts to remind you of details of the appeal, answer any questions you may have and make sure you have everything you need.
If you have any questions in the meantime, then please do get in touch with us.
